In GOD We Trust

"Teach me Thy way, O Lord, teach me Thy way.
Thy guiding grace afford, teach me Thy way!
Help me to walk aright, more by faith, less by sight;
Lead me with heav’nly light, teach me Thy way.

When I am sad at heart, teach me Thy way.
When earthly joys depart, teach me Thy way!
In hours of loneliness, in times of dire distress,
In failure or success, teach me Thy way.

When doubts and fears arise, teach me Thy way.
When storms o’erspread the skies, teach me Thy way!
Shine through the cloud and rain, through sorrow, toil and pain;
Make Thou my pathway plain, teach me Thy way.

Long as my life shall last, teach me Thy way.
Where’er my lot be cast, teach me Thy way!
Until the race is run, until the journey’s done,
Until the crown is won, teach me Thy way."

-Benjamin Ramsey (1919): Teach Me Thy Way, O Lord

I was bordering on tears when this hymn was sung. I guess the 2nd and 3rd stanzas seemed to apply to me now, that's why I'm reminded to seek GOD in every circumstance.

Also, today's sermon was on Saul's demise as king over Israel, and the beginnings of the rising of David. Saul was a people's choice of a king. David was GOD's choice. In comparison of the 2, we see that GOD's plans, GOD's choice, GOD's decisions are always way better than Man's. Saul became a disappointment to the people of Israel, but David was to be hailed as one of the greatest (if not the greatest) human king. In a parallel, it shows that when we put our hopes and trust in humanly things, human choices, we're going to be disappointed. But in GOD, we can be assured of what we believe in because GOD doesn't fail us.

I guess the message is pretty clear. GOD's always there... as always.

I hope this hymn will encourage others as much as it encouraged me...

GOD bless you all.
