Surprises!

Today, I shall splurge on myself.

Take it as a very early Christmas present to myself. And a very expensive one.

I will buy my D300 today, at $2310.

Then I will sell off the original battery-grip (used for extending battery life and comfortable holding of the camera in the vertical position) for hopefully $330. Then my camera will cost $1980, inclusive of an 8GB CF card (cheapest priced at $79.90 at Sim Lim as of 23/10) and a bag, which I might probably sell too, hopefully at $40 or so? Then my camera would be the best value camera! Yeah!

Yesterday I went Sim Lim and found a shop selling the D300 ONLY for $1950. I very nearly bought it there and then but thought I needed to go home and do some more calculations. Turns out, the one that sells more expensive but has everything is the best value. Heng ah...

Anyways, I'd been wanting a certain lens for some time now... It's the Sigma 10-20mm. It's an ultra wide-angle lens. New one would cost about $700-$800? Used one would be about $600 or so. So I found this seller on ClubSnap selling for $570 and I contacted him. After a few SMSes, he this guy suddenly SMS saying "You're Kane from ORPC!" Hahaha! What the heck! Then I realized it was Paul Tjahjono. What a coincidence man! He upgraded from a Fuji S5 Pro to a D700! Can you believe it?! D700! Wah lau... I wish I had that man...

But the whole point of the matter is that it's so cool that I'll be buying a lens from someone I know. =) I'm sure he won't mind lowering the price, and I won't mind paying more, so it'll make for a very pleasant trade experience.

Oh, by the way, the highest bid now for my battery grip is $310. I'm happy enough to sell it as it is already, but I shall wait and see if anymore bids come in. Yay!
