Art & Craft

It was time I had a proper clock in my room. So I went to IKEA last last week I think... with Eugene. Got me the cheapo $2.50 clock... the same one as Shawn's 3 clocks which he made to show only hour, minute, or second on each, and placed them side by side. Of course, knowing me, I'm not one who'd settle for uniformity. So I picked the white (actually, technically, translucent) one coz there'd be the option of painting it without any color tints.

And I did! I spray painted it purple... and drew some floral patterns on it. Now it looks more like $30 than $2.50. Ha!

Nice right? I think so, even if I do say so myself. Of course, it's not commercial quality, but for $2.50 and abit of time, I'm extremely satisfied with the results.

Cheers!

Never Stopped Thinking, Never Stopped Missing.

"This Romeo is bleeding,
But you can't see his blood.
It's nothing but some feelings
That this old dog kicked up.

It's been raining since you left me,
Now I'm drowning in the flood.
You see I've always been a fighter,
But without you I give up.

Now I can't sing a love song
Like the way it's meant to be!
Well, I guess I'm not that good anymore,
But baby, that's just me!

And I will love you, baby.

Always!
And I'll be there forever and a day,

Always!

I'll be there till the stars don't shine,
Till the heavens burst,

And the words don't rhyme!
I know when I die, you'll be on my mind,
And I'll love you always...

Now your pictures that you left behind
Are just memories of a different life.
Some that made us laugh, some that made us cry,
One that made you have to say goodbye.
What I'd give to run my fingers through your hair,
To touch your lips, to hold you near;
When you say your prayers try to understand,
I've made mistakes, I'm just a man.

When he holds you close, when he pulls you near,
When he says the words you've been needing to hear,
I'll wish I was him 'cause those words are mine
To say to you till the end of time!

If you told me to cry for you,
I could.
If you told me to die for you,
I would!
Take a look at my face!
There's no price I won't pay,
To say these words to you...

Well, there ain't no luck
In these loaded dice,
But baby if you give me just one more try,
We can pack up our old dreams and our old lives.
We'll find a place where the sun still shines!"

Yes I Have...

"Sometimes it's wrong to walk away,
Though you think it's over,
Knowing there's so much more to say,
Suddenly the moment's gone,
And all your dreams are upside down,
And you just wanna change the way the world goes round.

Tell me, have you ever loved and lost somebody?
Wished there was a chance to say I'm sorry;
Can't you see, that's the way I feel about you and me, Baby.
Have you ever felt your heart was breaking?
Lookin down the road you should be taking;
I should know, cos I loved and lost the day I let you go.

Can't help but think that this is wrong,

We should be together,
Back in your arms where I belong.
Now I've finally realised it was forever that I've found.
I'd give it all to change the way the world goes round.

I really wanna hear you say that you know just how it feels,
To have it all and let it slip away, can't you see?
Even though the moment's gone, I'm still holding on somehow,
Wishing I could change the way the world goes round.

Yes I loved and lost the day I let,
Yes I loved and lost the day I let you go."

The Beginning of a Possibly Dreadful Week

Yep. How discouraging.

And so the story goes, didadi, dida dida didadi, didadi, dida dida didadi...

Ok, no that's not how the story goes. It goes like that:

I took my usual bus which came at 7:12am. This bus usually reaches City Hall about 8:05am, so I set my handphone alarm to 8am so I have some time to relieve my possibly numbed legs. This usually works, with the occasional exception of me waking up and finding that the bus hasn't reached yet, then going back to sleep, and then waking up 1 or 2 stops after my intended stop.

However, today was different. I woke up at 8 to my alarm, in both sense of the word. I looked around and realized I haven't seen the landscape before... I mean, I have seen it before, but it's usually not on a weekday morning. I was at Kampong Bahru! Stupid bus somehow went so fast it overshot even my 5min margin.

My immediate reaction was, of course, to alight and take a bus back. But then I thought about it... if i were to take a bus back, the bus stop would be like, at Clarke Quay Central! That's quite far from my office! So I decided to just take the bus to Harbourfront, take the NEL to Outram, change to the green line and be at Raffles Place MRT.

So that's what I did... except I didn't reach Raffles Place MRT at first. At Outram station, I glanced at the track chart, saw 2 interchanges on the side I was on, and decided to take that. I didn't see WHICH interchanges they were. I only realized when the train came out into bright sunlight and the announcement said "Redhill". Hahaha! What a klutz! I scrambled out the train and got to the other side to go back to Raffles Place. Obviously, the 2 interchanges were Outram and Jurong East. How lame.

So that's my story. I could've gotten to work at 8am, but instead, got to my seat at 8:45am. 45min of extra travel and about 80cents more than my daily journey, I still am early for work.

Still... it's omen for the bad few days to come. *sigh*

Is That Why?

"Baby won't you tell me why
There is sadness in your eyes?
I don't wanna say goodbye to you.
Love is one big illusion I should try to forget,
But there is something left in my head.

You're the one who set it up,

Now you're the one to make it stop.
I'm the one who's feeling lost right now.
Now you want me to forget every little thing you said,
But there is something left in my head.

I won't forget the way you're kissing.
The feelings so strong were lasting for so long.
But I'm not the man your heart is missing,
That's why you go away, I know.

You were never satisfied no matter how I tried,
Now you wanna say goodbye to me.
Love is one big illusion I should try to forget,
But there is something left in my head.

Sitting here all alone in the middle of nowhere,
Don't know which way to go.
There ain't so much to say now between us,
There ain't so much for you;
There ain't so much for me anymore."

Bordering...

'Tis another morning in my office... at my desk...

Today, I was first in. Don't know where Lisa went. Maybe Hong Kong again? Maybe she's on leave, which she totally needs.

I can't help thinking y'know... I often wonder is it really the end? No chance at all? Not even a sliver of hope?

I think of you everyday. Everything I see, do, hear, everywhere I go, I think of you. Seriously. Why am I doing this to myself? Why do I keep slashing at myself? Why can't I just step back and stop getting hurt? It's like seeing a spinning razor with sparks flying from beneath... k, make that round serrated blades... and make it a half dozen next to each other, spinning in alternate directions. Yup. Menacing... It's like seeing that machine there at chest level, then stepping right up to it so that the blades kinda tear you apart, and you scream till your lungs burst, either due to the blades or due to your screaming... And actually, all I had to do was step back.

K... sorry for the overly graphic image.

*sigh* I just can't get myself out of that... Maybe when I've been torn to shreds will I be able to stop because there'd be none of me left for those 6 blades...

I guess deep down inside, I'm unwilling to admit that it's over. Crazy as it sounds, I must've thought that if I deny it, it wouldn't be totally over. It's just a break... a time away from each other... a time to not be obliged. Yeah... that has to be it. Coz when you're back, things will be well again... we'd be so happy together again... yep.

Absolutely.

Happy 9th month anniversary.

In Too Deep...

"If you, if you could return,
Don't let it burn, don't let it fade.

I'm sure I'm not being rude,
But it's just your attitude,
It's tearing me apart,
It's ruining everything.

I swore, I swore I would be true,
And honey, so did you.
So why were you holding her hand?
Is that the way we stand?
Were you lying all the time?
Was it just a game to you?

But I'm in so deep!
You know I'm such a fool for you.
You got me wrapped around your finger.
Do you have to let it linger?
Do you have to, do you have to,
Do you have to let it linger?

Oh, I thought the world of you.
I thought nothing could go wrong,
But I was wrong, I was wrong.
If you, if you could get by,
Trying not to lie,
Things wouldn't be so confused,
And I wouldn't feel so used,
But you always really knew,
I just wanna be with you.

But I'm in so deep!
You know I'm such a fool for you.
You got me wrapped around your finger.
Do you have to let it linger?
Do you have to, do you have to,
Do you have to let it linger?"

-Cranberries: Linger

"There was nothing to say the day she left,
Just filled a suitcase full of regrets.
I hailed a taxi in rain,
Looking for some place to ease the pain.

Then like an answered prayer,
I turned around and found you there.

You really know where to start
Fixing a broken heart.
You really know what to do,
Your emotional tools can cure any fool
Whose draems have broken apart.
Fixing a broken heart.

Now I don't understand what I'm going through.
There must be a plan that led me to you.
Because the hurt just disappears,
In every moment that you are near.

Just like an answered prayer
You make the loneliness easy to bear.

Soon the rain will stop falling, baby.
And I'll forget the past,
'cause here we are at last."

Sunrise at Marina

New photos uploaded!

This time, we went to Marina Barrage early in the morning... like, 5:45 or something like that. Of course, to get there so early, I had to take a cab and pick Doris and Simin up from their place, after which, Zhenhao joined us there.

It was a pretty pretty sunrise. As in, quite pretty, not pretty pretty... nevermind. Yeah, but it wasn't fantastic. But oh well...

Nothing to report the past few days... haha! In fact, the past week has been pretty busy at work... kinda caught up with auditing and stuff. Still manageable though. And I wished I could do more to help them, but I can't. I don't know nuts about these stuff, even after working there for close to a year. Haha! Shows how disinterested I am... =P

Ok, church tmr. I guess I better go sleep soon.

G'night!

Another Night Walk

Hi everybody!

Yesterday evening, I went to Lower Peirce Reservoir to with the intention to just sit and enjoy the sunset and the peace and quiet, and probably take a few photos. Joanna came along too.

In the end, we started to take photos the moment we were there: about 5+. And we shot through till the sun really set, and the sky was black, then we sat on the rocks for abit, chatting abit, playing with my LASER pointer and my torches. It was a misty night so the LASER beam was super visible. Haha!

Anyways, we got abit hungry so we decided to get up and have a night walk through Lower Peirce's boardwalk, up to Casuarina Rd for prata for dinner. In my preparation for the shoot, I brought along 2 white lights and 1 UV light, just in case we were able to walk through the forest in the dark. And we did!

What's the UV light for, u ask. Well, to look for scorpions of course. However, I didn't have high hopes of finding any because I was given the impression that they don't really come out when it's really wet. And it was raining pretty heavily just before 5+, so yes, it was really wet. All along the trail, we saw many creatures, but couldn't find any scorpions. Near the end of the trail, when I was looking out more for fireflies than scorpions, I decided to sweep my UV one last time to see if I could find any. Walah! There was one on the trunk of a big tree, glowing like a glow-in-the-dark sticker under my UV light! I'm guessing it's a bark scorpion. VERY EXCITING!!! Then as I turned this way and that to look at the scorpion, I found another one! This time, it was a female with babies on its back! Easily 30-40 baby scorpions there, I'd say. Then whilst we were musing over these 2, we found yet another one near the base of the same tree trunk! 3 scorpions on one tree in one night! How's that for luck?

It gets even better.

As we left the 3 scorpions, I started shining my light around to see if I could find anymore... and yes! I did find more... 3 more, in fact! All in all, 6 adult scorpions, many baby scorpions. This more than makes up for the past few times I haven't been able to spot one. And now I know my UV light works to pick them out from their camouflage! Yeah yeah! Coz when I shone my white light on them, you really wouldn't have seen them if you didn't know they were there.

Time to do up my scorpion tank!

I love photography!

Yes, I do!

But it's cost me alot considering it's just a hobby at the moment.

D300 body only: $2033
10-20mm lens: $575
24-85mm lens: $555
50mm f1.2 lens: $530

Craziness!!!

And I still want a flash!

SB-800: $450

And that's if I'm lucky and can find it. Otherwise, it's gonna be $500 or so man. *sigh*

Well, I hope the other 2 older lenses that I'm selling can fetch me a price that I might offset a teeny weeny bit of the cost. Also, I'm hoping to get a 70-300 or maybe the much more expensive 70-200 f2.8, and with these, I guess I'm quite prepared for events. But meanwhile, I need to go to those free shows to hone my skills first. Then maybe I might be able to make some moola outta this hobby, which will be great!

Still a dream now...

Anyways, went out for a half day photography session with Joanna and Doris today. Our theme is black & white, and old shophouses. However, I think I don't really know how to shoot old buildings... or new buildings too, for that matter. I'm more into landscape I guess... and alot more into macro. But well, these tastes take time. I need to get out and shoot more!

Today's photos have been made into a mini-slideshow accessible through the link (assuming you already know where). I say mini because out of 252 photos that I didn't delete (meaning I actually took more photos than 252), I only chose 28 better ones to show off. *sigh* That's like... 10% only, considering those that I deleted.

I need a higher hit rate!!!

Wishing you were here somehow... =(
